Let us see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars, let them try to FLY me to the Moon (in other words) let them watch my brain swell & collapse, windows falling from the tightrope, trains hitting grains hitting brains, listening to the vertigo, watching my CINEMA CALENDER OF THE ABSTRACT HEART, while I sit and think of times that were before, I listen for returning feet and VOICES AT THE DOOR. Today we have psychologists, but the dreams are always the same, full of meaning and menace & mystery. When you dream you become a NIGHTWALKER. But this does not compute in a runners world, there is no SANCTUARY as the sun lengthens behind the shed & the shadows go down inside their head, tricycles appear to take them away, but it's just a trick of the light. There's BLANCMANGE in their brains and they're perfectly sane. The fudge on their toe tells us so. One day, one summer, Mark, Nick and H. ate sandwiches & drank beverages in the middle of a roundabout. Was this clever? Or was it the beginning of THE URBAN PICNIC? and I think Sally came too.
